Highlights: Murchison Falls National Park and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.


Murchison Falls National Park -  lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savannah. First gazetted as a game reserve in 1926 it is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and over 451 birds. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile which plunges over the remnant rift valley wall creating the dramatic Murchison Falls, the centerpiece of the park and the final event in an 80km stretch of the river Nile from Karuma Falls rapids.


Day 1: 

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on your journey to Murchison Falls National Parkwith a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Rhinos were poached to extinction during the 1970’s but the government and other non-government organization are trying to restore them back. From Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, you will drive to Masindi for lunch then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park with a visit to the top of the falls. Take photos as you enjoy the thunderous roar of the mighty Nile.

Day 2:

Morning game drive and boat cruise

After breakfast, you will cross the ferry to the northern part of the Park for your early morning game drive. The northern part of Murchison Falls National Park known as Paraa is rich in animals that include lions, buffaloes, elephants, several antelopes, leopards giraffes to mention but a few. The delta region is also very rich with water animals such as hippos, crocodiles and the rare shoebill stock. At Murchison Falls National Park, it is nature that gives so the fact that wild animals graze and move naturally, the game drive will take 3 hours trying to look for these animals from the wild.

After drive back to the lodge for lunch and then embark on the afternoon boat cruise to the base of the falls. This boat cruise to the base of the falls might be the highlight of your safari in Murchison Falls National Park since many water and land animals can be sighted. Expect to see lots of Buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, many water birds as you cruise up stream to the base of the falls where water squeezes itself into a narrow gorge to later explode as it flows down words. Return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3:

End of your 3 Day Murchison Falls National Park safari

Wake up at leisure, have breakfast and embark on your journey to Kampala.
